How Black Women Are Taking Charge Of The Maternal Mortality Gap

In the UK, black women are dying at nearly four times the rate of white women during and after pregnancy. This is a well-known issue, but institutional intervention has been inconsistent.

As a result, many black women are taking it upon themselves to improve their own outcomes, including creating and attending exclusive pre- and postnatal groups.

Reporter Jasmine Lee-Zogbessou explores the need for and impact of these safe spaces.
